In regards to grading at Bishop’s, Eleanor Meyer (‘26) said, “Grades are helpful because they let me keep track of how I’m doing in each class and encourage me to improve.” However, she added that “they can have a negative impact on mental health since Bishop’s is a really competitive environment.”

Bishop’s held its first guided Seder in 2022, chaired by Ms. Lori Shearer (mother of Zachary Haubenstock ‘28). Members of our community gathered together in the dining hall for a night complete with a narration of the great liberation story, plenty of matzo ball soup, and interactive and educational games, such as the searching of the afikomen.

Even within a broader trend towards popularity in STEM subjects, Bishop’s is especially STEM focused. Director of College Counseling Ms. Wendy Chang, who worked at a school in New York prior to Bishop’s explained, “For me personally here [at Bishop’s], compared to some of the other schools where I've worked, I will definitely see more kids leaning towards STEM.”
