The team gathered for an energetic cheer before their match.

On September 19, the Knights drove to La Jolla Country Day School to take on their rivals and emerged the victors with a 12-6 win. On October 15, the Torreys came to Bishop’s to play the Knights on their home turf.

Bishop’s narrowly won the first round, emerging with a 4-2 lead. They held onto their lead during the second round with a score of 8-4. In the final round, after motivational pep talks from Coach Matt Copland, they closed it out, winning every match and finishing with a definitive 14-4 victory.

One standout was Olivia Wiese (‘21), who won all three of her singles matches and smashed Country Day’s top player 6-0. When asked how she felt, she said, “Fantastic! It’s a great win over a team that we have struggled with in the past.” Captain Elizabeth Stuart-Chaffoo (‘20) and Alyssa Bilinsky (‘23) won all three of their doubles matches, as did Annalise Chang (‘23) and Brooke Waite (‘21). “Being our rivals, I think we all had some extra stress put on us,” Brooke explained, “but, in the end we were super determined to win.”

As the tennis season draws to an end, the team – which is now League Champion – is excited for the challenge of competing with top schools at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIFs).

Captains Margo Lyons (‘20) and Elizabeth Stuart-Chaffoo (‘20) celebrated with a high-five after winning the point.
