Many students returned from summer vacation saddened by the loss of Grater Grilled Cheese at 723 Pearl St., but this fall, the vacant restaurant became full once more. Meet its new inhabitant: Lagom Balanced Food.
Lagom is a health-centric breakfast and lunch restaurant that appears straight out of a Pinterest feed, its walls covered in tropical wallpaper and adorned with neon signs, and its exterior painted a brilliant blue.
The restaurant was founded by Joaquin Fernandez and Karina Plasencia; the married couple moved to San Diego from Guadalajara, Mexico, where they owned four of their own restaurants, a few months ago.
Lagom emphasizes the importance of natural and organic ingredients, according to local blog SanDiegoville, and offers a variety of gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. From chipotle entomatadas and chilaquiles to chickpea matcha donuts and smoothies, Lagom has it all.
