On a night filled with cheers, tears, and unforgettable moments, the Bishop’s Girls’ Lacrosse team honored their seven seniors in a heartfelt senior night that celebrated more than just the end of a season –– it marked the culmination of years of friendship, dedication, and community. On a night filled with cheers, tears, and unforgettable moments, the Bishop’s Girls’ Lacrosse team honored their seven seniors in a heartfelt senior night that celebrated more than just the end of a season –– it marked the culmination of years of friendship, dedication, and community. Although this game took down a familiar rival –– La Jolla Country Day –– to the players, it was more than just a game.

For senior Laine Jefferey, the game felt surreal. “This was like the last time we might ever touch this field, especially since we’ve been here for four years. I love this group of friends—they’re my best friends,” she said. That deep connection echoed throughout the team, amplified by her younger sister, Cece Jefferey (‘27), who started on varsity as a freshman and now, in her sophomore year, has been playing with her sister for two years. Cece shared, “It makes me feel very sad,” adding, “because I’m never going to play a sport with my sister again.” She concluded, “But playing alongside her has been the biggest blessing.”
Although most seniors don’t have direct siblings on the team, a true connection was built between all players that felt like sisterhood. Senior Alex Pfister said that, despite the winning score of 19-8, “This game just kind of felt like it wasn’t really about Country Day. It was more about our team and playing as a unit, passing with each other, and creating pretty goals.” She reflected on the strength of the team’s bond, noting that it was unity, not just skill, that has secured them many victories. “The stronger the team is connected, the stronger you are — sometimes even more than teams who are better trained,” she said.
This game was especially meaningful for Senior Adelaide Kessler who joined the team for the first time this year. “It’s my first year playing, and the team welcomed me with open arms,” she said, adding, “It’s so full circle to be a senior and be part of such a cool community. I feel so lucky to have this experience — it’s something I’ll never forget.” In this game Adelaide scored her first lacrosse goal and was overtaken with cheers and hugs from the rest of the team.
“What was so amazing when Addie scored is everybody…literally just yelped with true excitement, true love,” said Coach Carr.

Senior Kendall Kearney echoed the sentiment of the other players saying, “The Girls’ Lacrosse program is just so close and so unbelievably supportive.” She added, “I’m just really proud to be a part of such a positive and uplifting community.”
This team is a team that always supports one another no matter what. Senior Carmen Morrera reflected this by saying, “I think it’s really inspirational to watch all the girls do something that they’re so good at… I liked watching the team grow, even if I wasn’t necessarily the MVP.”
When asked what she learned from her time at Bishop’s and on this team, senior Mia Gover said that the importance of sticking through things was the most significant. “As with anything, there are going to be ups and downs, and tough times and good times, but I guess knowing to stick through with everything, and being able to accomplish something at the end is a good lesson to learn,” she said.
Coach Carr said that after Bishop’s she wants the girls to continue getting involved in what interests them and to continue being the good people they already are who always continue striving to be better. “What they bring to a group and what they bring to a team is just pure love, friendship, and camaraderie,” she said.
Senior and Harvard lacrosse commit Natalie Marvin said, “When I was walking on the field, I literally started crying.” She concluded,“The past four years have made my life so incredible. I love this team.”
