Last December, recent alumni attended the Bishop’s Annual Sunset and Burrito walk, including Mira Gowda (‘22) (tenth from the left), who now goes to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). She remembers playing a game on the walk where alumni would “guess each other’s majors based on what we knew about each other in high school.”

Many Bishop’s students equate highly ranked schools to better education and opportunities. However, there lies another level of consideration beyond the surface of prestige. “Rankings will tell you little to nothing about how you would fit in the school environment, whether you would enjoy going there, or anything about your long-term success in life if you happen to attend that school,” Selene Wang (‘25) said.
The College Rankings Illusion
The English Department offers a large variety of electives at Bishop’s. Four electives that were offered in the 2024-2025 school year will also be offered from 2025-2026: Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, Narrative Fiction, and Dramaturgy.

Paula Venancio (‘26) and Learning Specialist Ms. Jennifer Miller work together to organize Paula’s busy schedule. The Bishop’s Learning Center is located on the upper floor of the library. The Learning Center team consists of Dr. Ramos, Mrs. Mattox, and Learning Specialist Ms. Jennifer Miller, supporting students who either seek extra help in their classes or have learning profiles.
