Fight and Flight: The Miramar Air Show

The MCAS Miramar Air Show returned to San Diego for the 72nd time.

As the sun rose over the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in Miramar, San Diego, the sky came alive with the promise of the annual Miramar Air Show from September 27 to 29, 2024. Engines of more than 100 planes roared to life, preparing to extend their warmest and most stunning welcome to more than 700,000 people who come to watch the show each year, crowning it the country’s “largest military air show,” according to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The Miramar Air Show is not just an event — it’s been a captivating tradition ever since 1953. It’s colossal. It’s exhilarating. It’s electric. And it’s not complete without the star of the show: the Navy’s most treasured and honored aerobatic team, the Blue Angels.

When the sun began to dip in MCAS Miramar, signaling the end of the 2024 Air Show, the air was still bubbling with excitement, the audience applauding and cheering, no doubt making this experience unforgettable.
