Supporting our Future Bishopians: Mrs. Ferguson

Meet Bishop’s new Director of Childcare Services

Mrs. Ferguson has taught children throughout California for over 10 years and just came to Bishop’s this year! She is very excited to make a difference here, and is fully devoted to helping the youth however she can.

If you have a younger sibling under 12 years old, they may be headed to the Bishop’s daycare while you’re at school, where they’ll meet Mrs. Ferguson – our school’s new Director of Childcare services. Reflecting on her own experiences with childcare in the past, she decided to dedicate herself to improving childcare for future generations, and has been working hard in the field for over 10 years to create a safe, fun space for children of all ages.

Q:  What drew you to the Childcare field?

I was drawn to the field of child care through my own adverse experiences as a child. I believe that children of all ages deserve a safe and enjoyable environment to thrive in, and so I made a commitment to myself that I would be an individual that provides such an environment for children.

Q: How did you end up working at Bishop’s?

Prior to my employment at Bishop’s I was managing three different child care facilities with large enrollment capacites. I struggled to find the time to provide the quality of care that I am so passionate about. When I came across the Bishop’s Childcare Center I was so excited about the possibility of managing a center with lower enrollment so that I could focus on high quality care and early education.

Q: Where did you work before Bishop’s and what is your history in the industry?

I worked for a non-profit called Easterseals Southern California as the Program Director of Child Development Services and I have worked with children ages 0-12 for approximately 10 years in many capacities.

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

I love my job for many reasons, but my favorite part is the difference I get to make in children’s lives each day. I am empowered and motivated by watching children meet their developmental milestones while in my care. I also enjoy teaching other professionals in the field how to implement early learning strategies into the classroom while still focusing on the quality of care for each child.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy camping, snowboarding, traveling, and relaxing with my french bulldog, Pierre. I have a trip to Germany and Italy planned for this coming February and am so excited!

Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

If I could travel anywhere I would travel to Thailand and spend time with wild elephants.

Mrs. Ferguson is fully committed to doing the best she can to help the next generation of Bishopian’s, and they will undoubtedly thrive with her aid. If you have any questions for her, you can email her at [email protected].
