How did Bishop’s celebrate National Coming Out Day?
Rainbow pride flags, like the ones on campus during the week of October 10 to 14, were originally created by Gilbert Baker. While the colors have come to represent the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as the spectrum of sexuality and gender, that wasn’t all they were meant to do evoke; according to a profile published in the Bay Area Reporter, Baker “chose the rainbow motif because of its associations with the hippie movement of the Sixties.”
