Bishop’s Celebrates Easter in an Online Chapel

Sabrina Webster (’21) shares a short reflection on what Easter means to her as science teacher Ms. Pamala Reynold’s advisory listens.

On April 19, 2020, the members of The Bishop’s School gathered together for an Easter Chapel. While chapels are usually held in the gym or in the chapel, the outbreak of COVID-19 meant that Reverend Simopolous-Pigato had to have student speakers record themselves speaking and compiled those clips into a video that advisors shared with their students over Zoom. Student speakers like Wesley Bian (‘20), Elise Thuresson (‘20), A.J. Gwathney (‘25), Sabrina Webster (‘21), Flavia Valente (‘22), Dhruvi Banerjee (‘21) and Liam Ram (‘20) read prayers, spoke about what Easter meant to them and shared messages of hope and joy. Teachers like physical education and health teacher Ms. Kayla Liptak and math teacher Mrs. Catherine Beamer shared reflections as well.  Between speeches, there was also music:  Giles Beamer (‘25) played the hymn Ellacombe on his trumpet and performing arts teacher Ms. Lara Korneychuk sang “When You Believe,” from the movie The Prince of Egypt with her sister, Maddy Korneychuk.  The chapel is available for viewing on the Bishop’s YouTube.
